Pressure - Since pressure is a critical control point for washing casks, the Tornado Cask Washer monitors this throughout the washing cycle.

Detergent tank level - This is also monitored and automatically topped up if required during washes. Additional low-level protection is in place for the heating elements to ensure they are always covered.

Detergent temperature - This is measured constantly by the controller and displayed on the touchscreen. This ensures the correct temperature is maintained throughout the wash.

*All sensors come with a 5-year manufacturers warranty

Detergent temperature - 0 to 80°c depending on the chemical used. Please consult your chemical supplier.

Hot final rinse - >80°c reduces the time to break down the detergent wash and ensures cask sterility is maintained.

Washing method - High-pressure washing at 5 to 6 bar combined with a pulsed sequence.

Wash nozzles - 360° full coverage nozzles mechanically cut away at solids as well as spraying the internal surface.

How does it work?

The washing process is fully automated and simply requires a cask which has had its shive and keystone removed to be placed on the wash station (no drain or pre-rinse is required).

Washing can only commence when the process systems are at the required recipe set points, temperatures, and pressure levels. If the system is not ready to wash, the screen will indicate to the operator the reason why washing has not started. When a cask is present on a wash station, the safety switch will be set on and allow washing. If an operator moves the cask during washing, the machine will stop the process.
